Motorsport sponsorship deal

Lucas Oil drag racer at start

US oil manufacturer Lucas Oil has secured branding rights over the left lane, at Shakespeare County Raceway. The new sponsorship deal covers the 2027 season.

Shakespeare County Raceway Event Manager Jerry Cookson says one result is that drivers and teams who already use the Lucas Oil brand will feel at home:

“Lucas Oil is a prominent supporter of this family-run drag strip and this deal identifies the Shakespeare County Raceway name with a worldwide motorsports brand.”

Events

A 2017 online event calendar for the six-month season is now available (www.shakespearecountyraceway.co.uk). New events  will attract new faces to the track and the sport. The first weekend on 25-26 March 2017 features a Shakedown Public Track Day.

The MSA Springspeed (29 April-1 May) and Open Sport Nationals (26-28 August) count towards the UK National Drag Racing Championship. Expect spectacular line ups of fast dragsters and doorslammers. The hot rodding events start in June (23-25). They begin with the Nostalgia Nationals and end with the Hot Rod Drags in September (15-17).  The National Street Rod Association will sponsor both.

Lucas Oil plans to use the venue to promote new products for racers and new products for fans.

Managing director Les Downey says motorsport fans drive cars and motorcycles to get to and from the drag strip. “They all use oils and probably need additives, too. We will make that point strongly. This agreement comes at the right time, in the right place and is perfect timing for us.”
