Perfect Timing For Gates Appointment

Gates has appointed Darren Spooner as the new Regional Sales Manager for the UK and Ireland.

He takes control from Taco Homan, who now has a more extensive international sales role as a result of the restructuring of the Automotive Aftermarket business earlier this year.

Darren Spooner joins Gates in time to lead an experienced team of district sales managers and technical support specialists as they roll out two major sales initiatives.

The new Gates Techpartner concept puts improved technical resources for garages and greater access to specialist tools at the heart of an extended warranty programme that’s only available to members. As the latest major parts supplier to join the ‘Diamonds’ incentives scheme, Gates is able to demonstrate that it is adding value at installer and motor factor level.

“Brand development is all about adding value and Darren has a fine track record of management in this field. He has recent experience within a major repair group and after 15 years with ADL – which included sales and management responsibility for the UK and Ireland – he has the kind of business connections that will help to take the Gates brand forward,” says Taco Homan.

Gates is best known as one of the world’s largest designers and manufacturers of belts and tensioners for OE and the passenger car aftermarkets, but it is also a key player in the HGV drive systems and the cooling systems markets, too.
