Smoking run for Renaults

Brittle seal problem for Clio is a non-dealer parts issue, says Corteco.

The heating and cooling characteristics of engines in some Renault Clio applications can turn stem seals brittle. The warning applies to vehicles built since 2005.

In such cases, oil leaks into the combustion chamber and this is known to be the source of complaints such as ‘slight smoking on ignition’. Corteco advises that there is a smart off-the-shelf aftermarket solution that many garages have yet to identify.

Valve Stem Seal Kit No.19036105 is the answer, advises Corteco, which is the aftermarket distribution arm of OE seal manufacturer Freudenberg.
